Galla Madhavi Accuses YSRCP of Double Standards Over Raptadu Minor Assault Case
TDP MLA praises government’s response and medical assistance to survivor
Alleges opposition is politicising the incident
Mangalagiri: TDP MLA Galla Madhavi on Monday condemned the assault on a minor girl in Raptadu and accused the YSRCP leadership of politicising the incident instead of extending meaningful support to the survivor and her family.
Addressing the media at the TDP Central Office in NTR Bhavan, Mangalagiri, Madhavi expressed concern over the crime and said no child or student should have to endure such a traumatic experience. She appreciated the response of the TDP-led coalition government and Minister Nara Lokesh, stating that immediate medical assistance had been arranged for the survivor.
According to Madhavi, the government had taken responsibility for the medical expenses without waiting for demands from the opposition. She cited an earlier instance in which Nara Lokesh had reportedly facilitated a medical injection worth Rs. 24 crore for a child requiring critical treatment.
Criticising YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the MLA said he had demanded Rs. 50 lakh in financial assistance for the survivor's family but had not extended personal support. She accused him of using the incident to target the government politically during his visits to Pulivendula and Bengaluru.
Madhavi also alleged a contradiction in the YSRCP's position, claiming that while its leadership was expressing concern for the survivor in public, a lawyer associated with the party, Soloman Raju, had filed a petition in court seeking relief for the accused. She questioned the opposition's stance and accused it of attempting to shield the accused while projecting itself as sympathetic towards the victim.
The TDP MLA also criticised the previous five-year YSRCP government over its handling of law and order, alleging that the State had witnessed the growth of ganja trafficking, illicit drugs and other criminal activities during that period.
She accused the previous administration of failing to ensure adequate safety for women and girls and questioned the YSRCP leadership's criticism of the present government on women's safety.
Madhavi said the government led by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu was taking steps to dismantle drug and ganja networks through the EAGLE anti-narcotics task force.
She stated that the coalition government was working to strengthen law and order and restore public safety by taking action against drug-related networks.
The MLA assured that the survivor would continue to receive support to recover from the incident and rebuild her life. She said those responsible for the crime must face legal action in accordance with the law.
The remarks were made amid political exchanges between the ruling TDP-led coalition and the YSRCP over the Raptadu assault case.
