India will host the BRICS Women Ministerial Meeting in Kochi on July 8-9, bringing together member nations to strengthen cooperation, women's leadership and inclusive development.

New Delhi: India will host the BRICS Women Ministerial Meeting in Kochi, Kerala, on July 8 and 9 under its BRICS Chairship 2026, bringing together ministers and senior representatives from member countries to deepen cooperation and promote women-led development.
The ministerial meeting will focus on advancing women's empowerment through greater collaboration among BRICS nations while reinforcing the shared commitment to inclusive, resilient and sustainable development.
India's BRICS Chairship is built around four key pillars: Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability. The BRICS Women Track has been designed to promote women's leadership and participation across these priority areas.
The ministerial meeting follows the BRICS Women Working Group Meeting held on July 6 and 7, where senior officials discussed priority issues concerning women's empowerment and prepared the groundwork for the ministerial deliberations. Ministers are expected to review the proposed outcomes and provide strategic direction for future cooperation among BRICS member countries.
Guided by the theme, "Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability," the meeting will provide a high-level platform to discuss policies that enhance women's leadership, expand economic opportunities, strengthen digital and financial inclusion, encourage entrepreneurship and recognise women's contributions to climate action, food security and nutrition.
The discussions are expected to promote practical collaboration among BRICS nations while accelerating progress towards gender equality and women-led development.
As part of the event, India will also organise exhibitions highlighting the country's achievements in women's empowerment across sectors such as rural development, STEM, education, nutrition and entrepreneurship. The programme will feature plenary sessions and thematic panel discussions involving policymakers, experts and practitioners from member countries.
The deliberations are expected to facilitate the exchange of best practices, innovative policy approaches and successful models that can strengthen partnerships for women's empowerment across BRICS nations.
The Kochi meeting marks another important milestone under India's BRICS Chairship as the country seeks to advance a people-centric and inclusive development agenda through greater international cooperation.
