Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka on August 1 to inaugurate Bhogapuram International Airport and launch development projects worth over Rs.17,900 crore.
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka on August 1, during which he will inaugurate the Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram and launch multiple development projects worth more than Rs.17,900 crore in Andhra Pradesh.
According to the Prime Minister's Office, Modi will arrive at Bhogapuram in Vizianagaram district at around 11 a.m., where he will first undertake a walkthrough of the airport terminal before formally inaugurating the Greenfield airport. He will later lay foundation stones, inaugurate and dedicate several infrastructure projects to the nation before addressing a public gathering.
Developed under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model at a cost of over Rs.5,640 crore, the Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport has been designed to handle six million passengers annually.
The airport features advanced technologies, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), Building Information Modelling (BIM), Airside 4.0 technologies, an Airport Predictive Operations Centre (APOC), biometric passenger processing, automated baggage handling systems and intelligent operational monitoring.
The terminal incorporates several sustainable features, including energy-efficient HVAC systems, LED lighting, a 5 MW solar power plant, rainwater harvesting, smart building management systems, electric vehicle charging infrastructure and waste management facilities. The project has also been designed in line with Green Building Standards and is registered with the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).
Architecturally, the terminal reflects Andhra Pradesh's cultural identity. Its roof design draws inspiration from the traditional Chuttilu cottages, the scenic landscapes of Araku Valley, and the graceful movement of a flying fish, blending regional heritage with contemporary airport architecture.
The airport is expected to significantly improve air connectivity while boosting tourism, trade, investment and employment opportunities across Andhra Pradesh.
Prime Minister Modi will also lay the foundation stone for the ASIP Semiconductor Project in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh's first semiconductor manufacturing facility approved under the India Semiconductor Mission.
The project, being developed by ASIP Technologies Pvt. Ltd. in partnership with APACT, Republic of Korea, involves an investment of over Rs.460 crore. The facility is expected to manufacture nearly 96 million semiconductor chips annually, generate high-skilled employment and support the growth of a semiconductor ecosystem in the state.
The Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for the Transmission System for Integration of Kurnool-IV Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) Phase-I (4.5 GW), being implemented by POWERGRID with an investment of about Rs.5,550 crore.
He will also inaugurate renewable energy transmission projects worth over Rs.4,370 crore, including transmission systems for the Kurnool Wind and Solar Energy Zones and the Ananthapuram Solar Energy Zone.
These projects are expected to facilitate the evacuation of renewable energy generated in Andhra Pradesh, strengthen the National Grid and contribute to India's clean energy transition by reducing dependence on fossil fuels.
Prime Minister Modi will dedicate and lay the foundation stone for National Highway projects worth over Rs.1,880 crore.
The projects include four-lane access-controlled Greenfield highway stretches on NH-365BG between Recherla-Guruvaygudem and Guruvaygudem-Devarapalle, the Tadipatri Bypass on NH-67, and the foundation stone for a high-level bridge at Lingasamudram on the Penchalakona-Yerpedu section of NH-565.
The highway projects are expected to ease traffic congestion, improve road safety, reduce travel time between Visakhapatnam and Hyderabad, and strengthen regional connectivity.
Later in the day, at around 3:30 p.m., the Prime Minister will visit Mysuru in Karnataka to inaugurate the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Youth Centre (Viveka Smaraka) at the Sri Ramakrishna Ashrama.
The centre commemorates Swami Vivekananda's historic visit to Mysuru in 1892 and has been established at the historic Niranjana Math.
Spread across more than 81,000 square feet, the complex includes a 4-D Experience Centre, exhibition hall, amphitheatre, classrooms, conference rooms, library, meditation and yoga hall, reading room and dedicated facilities for students preparing for competitive examinations.
The Viveka Smaraka aims to promote value-based education, leadership development and personality building, benefiting over 10,000 students and young people through lectures, workshops, training programmes and activities inspired by Swami Vivekananda's philosophy.
