The Yoga Sangam Portal has emerged as the digital backbone of International Day of Yoga 2026, with over 1.7 lakh organisers registering events to promote nationwide participation.

The Ministry of Ayush's Yoga Sangam Portal has emerged as the digital backbone of the 12th International Day of Yoga (IDY) 2026, with more than 1.7 lakh organisers already registering events across the country ahead of the June 21 celebrations.
The portal, relaunched by Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ayush and Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, Prataprao Jadhav, during the 25-day countdown to International Day of Yoga at Khajuraho in Madhya Pradesh, is expected to play a key role in coordinating one of the world's largest synchronised wellness movements.
Designed as a unified digital platform, the Yoga Sangam Portal connects institutions, organisations and communities, enabling them to register events, coordinate participation and contribute to a nationwide yoga movement. Schools, colleges, resident welfare associations, government departments, private organisations and civil society groups are actively using the platform to participate in this year's celebrations.
According to the Ministry of Ayush, the registration of over 1.7 lakh organisers reflects growing enthusiasm for yoga and highlights the increasing involvement of communities and institutions in spreading awareness about its benefits. The initiative is aimed at making International Day of Yoga a truly people-led movement with participation from every corner of the country.
Speaking about the significance of the initiative, Prataprao Jadhav said Yoga Sangam represents a celebration of unity through wellness. He noted that by enabling people across thousands of locations to practice the Common Yoga Protocol (CYP) simultaneously, the initiative promotes healthier lifestyles, strengthens national integration and reinforces India's position as the global home of yoga.
Unlike traditional government programmes centred around a single venue, Yoga Sangam follows a decentralised model. Partner organisations independently conduct yoga sessions at their respective locations while adhering to the Common Yoga Protocol. This creates a synchronised nationwide demonstration of yoga practice that transcends geographical, linguistic and social barriers.
The initiative builds upon the remarkable success of its debut during International Day of Yoga 2025. Last year, more than 10 lakh locations participated in synchronised yoga demonstrations, while over 13.04 lakh Yoga Sangam events were registered across India. The programme emerged as one of the largest coordinated wellness campaigns ever undertaken in the country.
Building on that momentum, the Ministry has further strengthened and upgraded the Yoga Sangam Portal for IDY 2026. The enhanced platform allows organisers to register events, coordinate logistics, upload photographs and reports, and receive participation certificates from the Ministry of Ayush.
Officials say the platform represents a new approach to public wellness campaigns by empowering communities to organise their own celebrations while remaining connected through a common national framework. This decentralised model combines local ownership with national coordination, ensuring broader outreach and greater participation.
The initiative also aligns with the Ministry's broader objective of promoting yoga as an accessible and effective wellness practice, particularly at a time when lifestyle-related diseases and stress-related health concerns are increasing globally.
As preparations for International Day of Yoga 2026 gather momentum, the Yoga Sangam Portal is expected to play a pivotal role in bringing millions of people together through a shared commitment to health, wellness and holistic living.
