YSRCP MLC Varudu Kalyani said Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy played the key role in securing approvals, land acquisition and clearances for the Bhogapuram airport, while accusing the TDP of claiming undue credit.

Amaravati: YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) MLC Varudu Kalyani on Wednesday accused the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) government of taking credit for the Bhogapuram International Airport project, asserting that the groundwork for the project was laid during the tenure of former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Addressing the media, Kalyani said Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy had initiated the project and played a crucial role in obtaining the necessary approvals, statutory clearances and permissions. She claimed that his government's contribution to the project was significant and alleged that the present government was attempting to claim credit despite having made little contribution.
According to the YSRCP leader, the previous government completed the land acquisition process, ensured compensation was paid to affected farmers and secured the required clearances for the airport project.
She further alleged that after assuming office, the Chandrababu Naidu-led government failed to provide adequate connectivity between Visakhapatnam and the upcoming airport. Kalyani claimed that the previous YSRCP government had pushed for the construction of a four-lane road to improve airport access, but the proposal was not effectively pursued by the present administration.
The YSRCP maintained that the Bhogapuram International Airport project was the result of sustained efforts by the previous government and accused the TDP of using the project for political publicity.
