Chandrababu Naidu seeks Centre’s support for Amaravati ORR, Polavaram iconic bridge, port-led infrastructure and better export markets for AP’s commercial crops.

New Delhi: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has sought the Centre’s cooperation for expediting several major infrastructure and development projects in the State, including the Amaravati Outer Ring Road, an iconic bridge at Polavaram and port-linked industrial infrastructure.
As part of his two-day visit to Delhi, Mr. Naidu met Union Home Minister Amit Shah and discussed various issues concerning Andhra Pradesh. He also raised the proposal to link the Godavari and Cauvery rivers, which was discussed at the recent Southern Zonal Council meeting, and urged the Centre to take forward the initiative.
During his meeting with Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, Mr. Naidu sought the Centre’s support for the proposed 189-km Amaravati Outer Ring Road (ORR).
He submitted a memorandum seeking the necessary approvals, funding and support for several infrastructure projects. The Chief Minister said the ORR would play an important role in improving connectivity and supporting the development of the Amaravati capital region.
Mr. Naidu also sought support for the proposed Beach Road project, which is aimed at improving connectivity and promoting development along the State’s coastline.
He further requested the Union Minister to extend support for constructing an iconic bridge across the Godavari at Polavaram, connecting its left and right banks.
Later, Mr. Naidu met Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal and sought the transfer of around 20,378 acres of salt lands under the Centre’s control to the Andhra Pradesh government.
The State has already submitted proposals seeking allocation of the land under the control of the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) for port-led industrial and commercial development.
The Chief Minister said availability of adequate land would be critical for developing infrastructure linked to ports, including roads, railway connectivity and industrial facilities.
Mr. Naidu also sought the Commerce Ministry’s support in creating better market opportunities for commercial crops produced in Andhra Pradesh.
He highlighted the international demand for the State’s chilli, tobacco and aquaculture products and sought stronger market linkages, improved infrastructure, quality standards and processing facilities to increase exports.
The Chief Minister said better integration of production, processing and international markets would help strengthen the State’s position in global trade and create greater opportunities for farmers and businesses.
