TDP MLA Galla Madhavi rejects YSRCP claims of political vendetta over Karumuri Nageswara Rao’s arrest and calls for investigations to proceed according to law.
Mangalagiri: Guntur West MLA and TDP spokesperson Galla Madhavi has rejected YSRCP allegations of political vendetta over the arrest of former Civil Supplies Minister Karumuri Venkata Nageswara Rao, saying the action was a consequence of alleged financial irregularities and should be viewed through the ongoing legal process.
Addressing the media at the TDP Central Office, Madhavi accused YSRCP leaders of attempting to portray enforcement action as caste-based politics and revenge because, she alleged, they were unwilling to face investigation.
Madhavi alleged that the previous YSRCP government was marked by financial irregularities, particularly in the liquor sector.
She questioned the reported increase in liquor transportation charges from Rs. 13 to Rs. 35 per kilometre, asking why such a substantial revision was made and what justification existed for it.
She also alleged that the illegal liquor trade had caused severe social consequences and claimed that thousands of families had suffered during the previous administration.
Madhavi said the Enforcement Directorate’s investigation into the alleged liquor-related financial irregularities should be allowed to proceed according to law. She alleged that Karumuri had a role in the transportation-related irregularities and referred to the court proceedings concerning the former minister and his family.
The TDP spokesperson accused YSRCP leaders of adopting different positions depending on who was facing enforcement action.
She referred to the arrest of YSRCP MP P. Mithun Reddy, alleging that the party had earlier described enforcement action against him as illegal, while now raising caste-related arguments over Karumuri’s arrest.
Madhavi alleged that such arguments were intended to divert public attention from corruption-related investigations.
She also accused the opposition of raising allegations concerning DSC recruitment to shift the focus from questions surrounding the previous government’s administration of APPSC.
Madhavi said the coalition government was committed to allowing investigative agencies and courts to perform their duties independently.
She maintained that the government was focused on development and the welfare of weaker sections, while alleging that YSRCP leaders were attempting to portray lawful action as political persecution.
She questioned whether Jagan Mohan Reddy and other YSRCP leaders had adequately addressed the concerns of families affected by the alleged liquor-related irregularities.
Madhavi said the 2024 election verdict, which reduced YSRCP to 11 Assembly seats, demonstrated that voters had rejected the previous government’s record.
She asserted that the coalition government would continue to follow the law and said investigations into alleged corruption should be allowed to reach their logical conclusion.
