AP Madiga Corporation Chairperson Dr. Undavalli Sridevi alleged that YSRCP leaders continue to promote violence and intimidation, citing the Guntur kidnapping case and demanding strict legal action.
Mangalagiri: Andhra Pradesh Madiga Welfare Cooperative Finance Corporation Chairperson Dr. Undavalli Sridevi on Thursday alleged that recent incidents of violence involving YSRCP leaders were part of a political culture encouraged by the party leadership at Tadepalli.
Addressing a press conference at the TDP Central Office in NTR Bhavan, Sridevi referred to the recent kidnapping and assault case in Guntur district and alleged that the son of former Guntur East YSRCP MLA Mohammad Mustafa, along with his associates, was involved in the incident.
According to her, a Dalit youth identified as Abhi and a lorry driver were allegedly kidnapped, confined at a private location and assaulted following a business dispute involving a tobacco trader. She described the incident as an example of what she termed the continuing "criminal mindset" within the YSRCP.
Sridevi said the people of Andhra Pradesh had rejected such politics by reducing the YSRCP to 11 Assembly seats but alleged that the party had failed to reform. Instead, she claimed, its leaders continued to encourage threats, kidnappings and acts of violence.
She appreciated the Andhra Pradesh Police for their swift response in arresting those allegedly involved in the case and said the action reflected the NDA coalition government's commitment to maintaining law and order and ensuring equal justice.
The Corporation Chairperson also alleged that widespread atrocities against Dalits took place during the previous YSRCP government's tenure. Citing figures, she claimed that 59,000 attacks on Scheduled Castes were reported and 191 people lost their lives during that period. She further alleged that former Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy had protected those accused in serious criminal cases instead of standing with victims.
Sridevi also accused the YSRCP leadership of repeatedly defending individuals facing criminal allegations while attempting to discredit victims and investigators. According to her, such actions encouraged party workers to believe they were above the law.
She further questioned the financial growth and business dealings of former MLA Mohammad Mustafa, alleging that they warranted closer scrutiny. Referring to past Income Tax searches linked to businesses associated with his family, she alleged that the YSRCP leadership had patronised individuals facing serious allegations.
Demanding strict legal action, Sridevi called for action against Mohammad Mustafa and his son Basheer, whom she alleged were key conspirators in the Guntur kidnapping case. She said no person, irrespective of political influence, should be allowed to take the law into their own hands and stressed that disputes should be resolved through legal means.
She further alleged that continued acts of aggression by YSRCP leaders reflected the political culture fostered by the party leadership and urged the police to complete the investigation impartially and ensure that all those responsible were brought to justice.
Concluding her remarks, Sridevi said the NDA government remained committed to maintaining law and order and protecting every citizen equally. She expressed confidence that the people of Andhra Pradesh would continue to reject what she described as politics based on intimidation and violence.
