Andhra Pradesh State Election Commission orders SI Priyanka to be relieved of duties pending enquiry into the Vidadala Rajini incident. Annamayya CI and SI also face action over alleged nomination obstruction.

The Andhra Pradesh State Election Commission (SEC) has directed action against police personnel in Palnadu and Annamayya districts following complaints and media reports alleging misconduct and obstruction during the 2026 MPTC and ZPTC elections.
In a communication to the Palnadu Superintendent of Police, the Commission took note of reports alleging that Chilakaluripeta (Rural) Sub-Inspector Priyanka pushed former minister Vidadala Rajini down at her residence. The SEC directed that the officer be relieved of election-related and regular duties pending further orders.
The Commission also instructed the Palnadu SP to conduct a thorough, impartial and time-bound inquiry into the incident. The inquiry is to include verification of media reports, examination of available video footage and recording of statements. Appropriate disciplinary action is to be initiated in accordance with the findings and applicable rules.
In a separate directive addressed to the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Kurnool Range, and the Annamayya Superintendent of Police, the SEC ordered Circle Inspector K. Dastagiri and Sub-Inspector P. Ramakrishna to be relieved of election-related and regular duties forthwith.
The action followed a report by the Special Deputy Collector (Quick Response Team) alleging negligence and partisan conduct that obstructed the filing of nominations at the MPDO office in Molakalacheruvu mandal.
The Commission directed that suitable disciplinary proceedings be initiated under the AP Civil Services (Conduct) Rules, 1964, and in accordance with G.O.Rt.No.1030 of the Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Department, dated October 19, 2026, concerning the conduct of government employees during elections.
The SEC directed the authorities concerned to submit reports confirming the relieving of the police personnel in both districts by 7 p.m. on October 24. An action-taken report in the Palnadu matter was sought by 5 p.m. the same day.
Reports on the final disciplinary action in both matters are due by November 5, 2026.
The directions underline the Commission's oversight of the local body election process and its stated emphasis on accountability and impartial conduct by public servants. The allegations in both matters are to be examined in accordance with the prescribed procedures and applicable service rules.
