Amaravati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Bhogapuram International Airport on August 1, marking a major milestone in Andhra Pradesh's infrastructure development. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu said the airport would transform the economic landscape of North Andhra by creating new opportunities for investment, employment and regional growth.
Reviewing preparations for the inauguration, the Chief Minister described the airport as a game changer for the region and said it would significantly improve connectivity while acting as a catalyst for tourism, industry and economic development.
Naidu said the airport project was initiated during the Telugu Desam Party government in 2014 and has been expedited by the present NDA coalition government, enabling its completion within two years. The State Government plans to organise the inauguration on a grand scale.
He said Bhogapuram International Airport would play a key role in the development of the Visakhapatnam Economic Region, drawing comparisons with the transformational impact of Hyderabad's Shamshabad International Airport.
According to the Chief Minister, improved infrastructure, including irrigation projects, highways, ports, airports and tourism facilities, will accelerate economic activity across North Andhra, generating employment, creating wealth and improving livelihoods.
Naidu directed officials to ensure the airport reflects Andhra Pradesh's rich cultural heritage and instructed that the inauguration showcase the region's tribal traditions, handicrafts and cultural identity.
"The inauguration by the Prime Minister should become a historic event. Every family and every citizen of North Andhra should celebrate this proud occasion. The event should be organised like a festival with active participation from the public, students and youth," he said.
