Visakhapatnam: Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday reviewed the final arrangements for the inauguration of the Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram and directed officials to ensure flawless execution of the event, with special emphasis on crowd and traffic management. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the greenfield international airport later today.
Chairing a high-level review meeting with senior officials, the Chief Minister instructed the police and district administration to closely monitor vehicle movement, parking facilities and public access to prevent traffic congestion during and after the programme.
Naidu stressed that every visitor should leave the venue safely and without inconvenience. He directed officials to maintain systematic coordination among all departments and ensure smooth dispersal of the large gathering expected for the inaugural ceremony.
The Chief Minister said the Bhogapuram airport would become a game-changer for North Andhra and play a key role in accelerating the state's economic growth. He described the project as a gateway for investment, tourism, exports and industrial expansion, adding that the government aims to develop the airport into a major aviation and aerospace hub.
He said the airport would enhance Andhra Pradesh's connectivity with national and international destinations while creating new opportunities in logistics, manufacturing, aerospace, aviation services and employment.
The Andhra Pradesh government has made elaborate arrangements to welcome Prime Minister Narendra Modi. More than 10,000 tribal women will present the traditional Dhimsa dance, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the tribal communities of North Andhra.
In a landmark achievement ahead of the inauguration, the Dhimsa dance performance entered the Guinness World Records as the largest Dhimsa dance, performed by participants under the Department of Tribal Welfare at the airport premises.
The airport complex has been adorned with displays highlighting Andhra Pradesh's rich cultural traditions. Exhibits featuring Etikoppaka toys, Bobbili Veena, traditional puppet shows and other cultural symbols have been arranged to provide visitors with a glimpse of the state's artistic heritage.
Officials said extensive security arrangements, traffic diversions, parking facilities and public convenience measures have been put in place for the Prime Minister's visit. Multiple departments have been coordinating to ensure the smooth conduct of the event.
The inauguration of the Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport is expected to mark a significant milestone in the development of North Andhra. The state government believes the project will attract investments, improve air connectivity, boost tourism and position Andhra Pradesh as an emerging destination for aviation and aerospace industries.
