Kadapa MLA Reddeppagari Madhavi Reddy accused the YSRCP of spreading misinformation about the Mega DSC recruitment to divert attention from alleged irregularities in the APPSC Group-1 examination during its tenure.
Mangalagiri: Kadapa MLA Reddeppagari Madhavi Reddy on Monday accused the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) of spreading misinformation about the recently completed Mega DSC recruitment to divert public attention from alleged irregularities in the APPSC Group-1 examination during the previous government.
Addressing a press conference at the TDP Central Office in Mangalagiri, Ms. Madhavi Reddy said the opposition was unable to accept the development initiatives being taken up by the NDA coalition government.
She cited the progress of projects such as Amaravati and Polavaram and the flow of investments into the State, and alleged that the YSRCP was resorting to what she described as diversionary politics.
Ms. Madhavi Reddy said Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu had abolished the interview-based system that existed before 1995 and introduced merit-based teacher recruitment in 1998.
According to her, seven of the 10 DSC examinations conducted in the State so far were held during TDP regimes. She also claimed that nearly 70% of the 1.80 lakh teachers currently working in the State were recruited on merit during TDP governments.
She criticised the previous YSRCP government for not conducting a DSC examination during its five-year tenure and alleged that teachers were assigned duties unrelated to teaching.
The MLA alleged that the criticism of the Mega DSC was aimed at diverting attention from what she described as the APPSC Group-1 examination scam during the YSRCP government.
She referred to the ongoing CID investigation into alleged irregularities in the examination process. She alleged that Group-1 answer sheets were handed over to private individuals in Hyderabad and kept at a resort for an extended period despite court warnings.
She further alleged that the previous administration had compromised the evaluation process, affecting the prospects of more than 160 candidates.
The allegations are part of an ongoing investigation, and the claims would have to be established through the appropriate legal and investigative processes.
In contrast, Ms. Madhavi Reddy said the NDA government completed the Mega DSC process, from notification to the distribution of appointment letters for more than 16,000 posts, in 148 days.
She also alleged that YSRCP leaders had approached courts with more than 300 petitions seeking to stall the recruitment process, but that the cases did not prevent the government from proceeding with the recruitment.
The MLA accused the opposition of using social media videos and other material to raise doubts among job aspirants.
She referred to a video involving a woman identified as Radhika, alleging that it contained unsubstantiated claims regarding selections under the EWS quota.
She also cited the case of Vemula Ramakrishna from NTR district. According to Ms. Madhavi Reddy, a media channel had reported that Mr. Ramakrishna had secured an English teacher post using allegedly false credentials.
She said the claim was contradicted when Mr. Ramakrishna appeared before the media and stated that he had not been selected for the post and was not working as a government teacher.
Ms. Madhavi Reddy demanded action under the Information Technology Act against those responsible for spreading what she described as fabricated material.
Responding to allegations that some selected candidates did not possess the required TET qualifications, Ms. Madhavi Reddy cited the case of a candidate named Kalyani. She said the candidate had secured 75 qualifying marks in 2018 and had been waiting for an opportunity to secure a government job.
On appointments under the sports quota, she said priority had been given to border mandals such as Kouthalam, Halaharvi, Holagunda and Kosigi in Kurnool district because of the shortage of teachers in those areas.
She also referred to the 2006 Kadapa DSC paper tampering case and said the controversy had delayed the recruitment process at that time.
Ms. Madhavi Reddy said the government was preparing to issue another teacher recruitment notification in October.
She warned that strict action would be taken against anyone found attempting to disrupt the recruitment process or mislead unemployed youth through unverified information.
The MLA said the government would continue to focus on completing teacher recruitment transparently and providing employment opportunities to young people across the State.
