Minister Kolusu Partha Sarathy alleged that YSRCP leaders are being encouraged to indulge in violence under the direction of Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, while asserting that the NDA government is committed to maintaining law and order.
Mangalagiri: Andhra Pradesh Housing and Information & Public Relations Minister Kolusu Partha Sarathy on Monday alleged that recent incidents of violence and lawlessness involving YSRCP leaders were taking place under the encouragement of former Chief Minister and YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Addressing a press conference at the TDP Central Office, NTR Bhavan, in Mangalagiri, the Minister claimed that the people of Andhra Pradesh were concerned over what he described as attempts by YSRCP-backed anti-social elements to disturb peace and public order. He asserted that the public had rejected such politics and continued to support stability and development.
Partha Sarathy said the NDA coalition government, led by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, was focused on creating employment opportunities, strengthening governance and ensuring a better future for the state's youth. In contrast, he alleged that the YSRCP, lacking achievements to highlight from its tenure in office, was attempting to influence young people through violence, drug culture and politically motivated disturbances.
The Minister further alleged that unrest and social divisions had become a political strategy within the YSRCP. According to him, whenever party leaders face legal action, they attempt to portray themselves as victims by accusing the government of political vendetta through social media campaigns.
Referring to recent remarks reportedly made by Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy regarding the death of a shepherd in Srikakulam district, Partha Sarathy alleged that the comments reflected insensitivity towards the lives of economically weaker sections. He said the coalition government would deal firmly with anti-social activities while allowing the law to take its course without interference.
The Minister also condemned a recent incident in Kurnool district in which, according to him, a YSRCP MLA and supporters allegedly attacked a Scheduled Caste family. He claimed that a Dalit woman was assaulted and humiliated, and alleged that attempts were later made to portray the incident as fabricated by the victims.
Partha Sarathy further alleged that attacks on women and members of weaker sections had continued under the influence of YSRCP leaders. He cited previous incidents, including the reported humiliation of a woman Sub Inspector in Srikakulam, and questioned why the YSRCP leadership had not publicly condemned such incidents.
Drawing a comparison with the present administration, the Minister said Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu does not hesitate to take action against leaders from his own party if they are found at fault and stressed that accountability is essential in public life.
He also questioned why Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, who often projected himself as a champion of Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes, had remained silent when, according to the Minister, leaders from his own party were allegedly involved in attacks on Dalits and weaker sections.
Concluding the press conference, Partha Sarathy said the coalition government would not tolerate any individual or organisation acting against the Constitution or disturbing public order. He reiterated that strict legal action would be taken against anyone violating the law, irrespective of political affiliation, while reaffirming the government's commitment to maintaining peace, justice and public safety.
